Drop Down Plugin for WP Links Manager Version 1.1

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

I forgot to add a way to style the names that appear within the drop down menu of the WP Links Manager drop down plugin at the same time I added that ability to the Drop Down Cats Plugin with ability to exclude.

So just in case someone wants it… You can find it here.

Drop Down Categories Version 1.3

Monday, February 21st, 2005

I have updated the Drop Down Categories Plugin for use with WordPress 1.5 (AKA Strayhorn).

Please let me know if you experience any problems with the plugin. As always, I have provided instructions on how to use the plugin inside the ZIP file. Please note that I included a PDF version of the Readme - which I think is better organized now, though not less wordy. For those not familiar with jump menus, I also provided the Javascript code I use to make the jump menu work. Feel free to use any other Javascript jump menu code with the plugin.

You may download the plugin by visiting this page.

Updating my drop down categories plugin

Saturday, February 19th, 2005

I am spending my evening (or is it early morning) fixing my drop down category plugin so that it may be used with WordPress 1.5 (AKA Strayhorn).

I’ve spent the last 10 minutes on it and I am almost done. I just need to test all of the features in WP 1.5 test blog and I will probably update the Readme and make it a PDF file.

Why a PDF and not a TXT, DOC, or HTML file? Because I want to. Well, maybe I will also put a TXT and HTML version of the Readme file in the ZIP. I’m going to try and make the directions a little clearer. I know that I get wordy. Simple is good. Wish me luck on that one. I’ll probably end up spending more time on the Readme than on actually updating the plugin. Heh heh.

By the way, as far as I know the Drop Down Plugin for WP Links Manager seems to be working for WP 1.5. I haven’t made any changes to it but it seems fine. If anyone experiences any problems with this plugin, please let me know.

Oh yes, I completely forgot that I need to double check that the plugin puts out code that validates. Makes note to self.

Added at 1:10 AM: A ha! I finished updating and testing the Drop Down Category plugin for WP 1.5. I’m not as lazy as I thought I was. It seems to work. Heh heh. The true test will come after other people have tried it out. I still haven’t made sure that it validates. Will do that tomorrow sometime … and if I finish the documentation I will have it up by Sunday at the latest.

Drop Down Categories Version 1.2

Saturday, August 28th, 2004

BB e-mailed me to ask if it was possible to style the parent and child categories when using my Drop Down Categories with ability to Exclude plugin (click here to download). I believe that BB wanted the child categories to look different from parent categories. It wasn’t possible to do style the parent and child categories at the time that I replied to BB’s email. But….

I just updated the “Drop Down Categories with ability to Exclude” plugin so that parent and child categories may be styled. The most current version of the plugin is version 1.2 and you must use this version in order to style the parent and child categories. Please click on the above link to download the latest version.

You may view the plugin in action by looking at my “by subject” drop down list. You will notice that parent categories are a slade blue color and child categories are a lighter blue in Times Roman font. I have only tested the font and color attributes and I am not entirely sure other CSS attributes will work.

Drop Down Categories Version 1.1

Friday, July 9th, 2004

As promised, I made it possible for subcategories to be viewed underneath parent categories for the Drop Down Categories with Ability to Exclude (click here to download) plugin. The plugin is now in version 1.1 and the ZIP file includes a Readme.txt with instructions.

I am currently using plugin on my site but you never know if it will work correctly on another site. If you use the plugin, please feel free to e-mail me if you have any problems using it. Thank you.

Dropdown Cats Plugin with ability to exclude

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2004

She Devil asked me if it was possible to exclude categories in the first Dropdown Categories plugin I tweaked. It is not possible to exclude categories in that plugin.

So I created a new plugin where it is possible to exclude categories from the drop down list. Read on to find out more about the plugin.

Change to plugin documentation

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2004

If you used the two Word Press plugins I created prior to today, please note that I updated the documentation included in the ZIP files for both plugins. Thank you to Brian for suggesting that I include examples in the documentation. Hopefully the changes to the documentation will make it easier to understand.

Documentation changes to the following plugins:

+ Drop Down Category as Option
